Description
A Blake & Pendleton Service Technician provides maintenance and repair support for its customers across various industries, including manufacturing, utility, forestry, and mining. The technician primarily supports Sullair compressed air equipment but also works with other equipment designs. The role requires a high level of experience and a desire to enhance skills as equipment modifications evolve. Service Technicians must have necessary safety training and certifications (e.g., OSHA, MHSA).
They work a fixed schedule but may need to deviate based on customer requests and participate in an on-call rotating schedule managed by the Service Manager. Technicians should be capable of lifting over 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions, including after hours.
Requirements
Electrical Knowledge:
- Skilled in troubleshooting 120V control circuits.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing single-phase and three-phase motor control circuits up to 480V, including full voltage, reduced voltage, and soft starters.
- Proficiency in using multimeters, amp meters, and infrared meters.
- Ability to perform tasks safely, adhering to company and customer safety standards.
Mechanical Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret P&I diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing air compressor control components.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning, and setting controls.
- Skilled in rigging, safely removing and reinstalling motors and compressors, and performing motor alignments.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools including drills, grinders, and band saws.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of piping types (copper, black, galvanized), threading, sweating, brazing, and welding is a plus.
- Ability to bend and install control tubing (1/4" and 5/16" stainless steel tubing).
Refrigeration: EPA certification with Freon experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performing quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance.
- Assessing trouble calls and repairing machines.
- Starting up newly installed equipment.
- Checking in daily with the Service Coordinator.
- Submitting timesheets and service tickets daily.
- Wearing a clean company uniform and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Keeping the service truck clean and organized.
- Maintaining physical fitness to perform job duties safely, including operating a service truck.
