Travel RN - Med​/Surg Tele

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months' Med/Tele RN experience and a valid NC or compact license.

Job Details

• Work on a 14-bed oncology-focused Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting,

• Patient population includes oncology cases, neutropenic fever, patients requiring fluid resuscitation or blood products, and medical overflow,

• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5,

• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts from 1845 to 0715,

• Every other weekend required and 75% holiday coverage expected,

• No call required,

• Floating may occur within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice,

• EMR utilized is Epic;
Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Philips monitors are used on the unit,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required,

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience,

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,

• ONS certification preferred but not required,

• Experience with PIV starts, NG tube management, pleurx and surgical drains, and chest tube care is required,

• Port accessing experience preferred for oncology-experienced RNs only,

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position,

• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility,

Additional Information

• Daily duties include managing oncology and medical overflow patients, administering specialized therapies, and utilizing unit-specific equipment,

• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses with patient assignments, and access to IV/VAT teams,

• Tele monitoring is managed remotely if orders are placed,

• Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to facility orientation,

• Six days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension if needed,

• Navy scrubs are required,
