Travel RN - Med​/Surg Tele

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on night shift requiring strong cardiac and med/tele skills as well as a NC or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 10 beds and an average daily census of 8 patients,

• Patient diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, and angina,

• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with CNA support at 1:10,

• Night shift schedule, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with every other weekend rotation and 75% holiday coverage required,

• Floating required within Region 1:
Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH for peds only) per scope of practice and facility needs,

• Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing,

• No call or on-call responsibilities,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license,

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience,

• BLS and ACLS certifications required,

• NIHSS certification required for Resource Team,

• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, medication gtt management, and general med/tele nursing skills,

• Radius rule: must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit,

• Epic EMR experience preferred,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing complex cardiac and stroke patients, trach care, chest tubes, tube/drain management, and PCA pumps,

• Supervision and support provided by a department supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, and ancillary teams such as RT, hospitalists, and IV/VAT team,

• Team culture emphasizes collaboration, with activities such as a unit book club and social clubs,

• Required to wear navy scrubs,

• Free employee parking is available,

• Orientation includes general facility and two days of departmental training,

• First-time travelers may be considered though not preferred,

• May approve up to 6 days off (excluding holidays); RTO may require extending contract to meet hour requirements,
