It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. The department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervise sentenced people in the community.

Health Care Provider - Industry: Government Administration
- Providing routine care and treatment of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse within a state correctional facility.
- Providing direct nursing care to patients within the scope of practice.
- Screening, observing and assessing patients.
- Providing basic wound care and personal care to patients.
- Delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering/interpreting TB skin tests.
- Observing and recording pertinent patient information.
- Responding to emergencies.
- Assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician.

- Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this position.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional nursing and skills attendant to its practice.
- Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of North Carolina.
- Must hold an active LPN license in North Carolina or in an NLC state. If licensed in another state, you must apply and receive at a minimum a "Temporary License" to practice in NC prior to hire date.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
