Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and a compact or NC RN license.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Typical patient diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, and angina
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5; CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Night shift  or similar) schedules available
• Every other weekend rotation is required
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Duties include caring for patients with chest pain and neurological issues, medication administration, and specialized equipment management
• Support provided by a supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, and 24/7 access to RT and hospitalist teams
• Two-day departmental orientation and NEO provided
• Navy scrubs required
• Free employee parking is available
• Unit has a supportive, collaborative team culture including activities and clubs
• Travelers may be considered even if first-time, though not preferred
• RTO up to 6 days allowed (excluding holidays), with contract extension required if RTO exceeds contracted hours

• Active NC or compact state RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Strong skills in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain and tube management, and PCA pumps
• Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit for eligibility
