Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with a strong med/tele background and the ability to float within a regional hospital system.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Typical patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• Patient assignment ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:10 for CNAs
• Shift is 7a–7p with every other weekend required
• Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays
• Floating within a multi-facility region required, including both hospital and possible pediatric units (within scope of practice)
• Uses Epic EMR system, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing equipment
• Support includes a supervisor, charge RN, resource RN for admissions/discharges, IV/VAT team, and access to phlebotomy, RT, and hospitalist support
• On-call is not required
• Two-day departmental orientation provided in addition to new employee onboarding
• Scrub color is navy

• Collaborative team environment with unit book and social clubs
• RTO (time off) up to 6 days allowed excluding holidays, with contract extension required if not meeting hours
• First-time travelers will be considered though not preferred

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 18 months’ recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Stroke experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Proficiency in trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips and blood products
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
