Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong telemetry and cardiac skills, with floating across regional facilities.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Focus on patients with chest pain, syncope, and angina
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5
• Night shift schedule from 7p - 7a with every other weekend rotation
• Expected to float as needed within Region 1 facilities, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH - peds only)
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• No on-call requirements
• Duties include management of drains, tubes, cardiac and heparin drips, blood product administration, and supporting complex cardiac cases
• Support includes supervisor, charge RN, resource RN for admissions/discharges, and access to RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Team culture is supportive and inclusive, featuring activities such as a unit book club and social gatherings
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days off (excluding holidays) with contract extension if hours fall short
• Two-day departmental orientation provided following NEO
• Travelers must wear navy scrubs
• First-time travelers will be considered, though experience is preferred

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Proficiency in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, medication gtt management, PCA pumps, and cardiac drips
• Epic experience preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit
