Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring NC or compact licensure and strong cardiac and stroke care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- Average daily census is 8 patients with an RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift position from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
- Required to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays
- Floating required to facilities within the local region and within your scope of practice
- Patient population includes those with chest pain, syncope, and angina
- EMR system is Epic with Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing equipment
- Duties include admission and discharge support, cardiac monitoring, stroke care, and medication administration
- Team includes supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, 24/7 available hospitalist and respiratory therapy support, and a cooperative phlebotomy effort
- Two days of departmental orientation provided in addition to new employee onboarding
- Department fosters a welcoming team environment with social clubs and activities
- Navy scrubs required for this unit
- Free parking available in employee parking deck
- Up to 6 days of requested time off may be approved, not including holidays
- First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
- Active NC or compact RN license in hand
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required for Resource Team
- Strong skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, chest tube management, and managing various drains and tubes
- Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
