Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with strong Med/Tele skills and regional floating requirements.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5; CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems are used
• Night shifts, 7p-7a, with every other weekend required
• Will be required to float within Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• Travelers must work 75% of holidays
• Responsibilities include managing a diverse patient population with multiple cardiac and medical needs
• Resource RN available to assist with admissions and discharges
• 2-day departmental orientation plus facility onboarding provided
• Support from supervisor, charge RN, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist services
• Department fosters a collegial environment with a strong sense of teamwork
• Navy scrubs required
• Free employee parking is available
• Up to 6 days of time off may be approved, excluding holidays

• Current NC or Compact RN license
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Ability to perform cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
• Experience administering cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Prior Epic charting experience preferred
• Traveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
