Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring strong Med/Tele skills and a NC or compact RN license.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Typical patient population includes individuals with chest pain, syncope, and angina
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, CNA-to-patient ratio is 1:10
• Requires proficiency with telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, and management of various drains and tubes
• Utilizes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• Shifts are 7a-7p with every other weekend rotation
• No on-call or call back required
• Floating is required within the entire regional group of hospitals and may occur within scope of practice
• Responsibilities include admissions, discharges, complex medication administration, and monitoring of acute cardiac and neurological patients
• Support is provided by a supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, hospitalist, and respiratory therapy 24/7, as well as IV/VAT team
• Department culture is inclusive with opportunities for team engagement such as book clubs and group activities
• Department provides orientation including NEO and two days of departmental training
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and may request up to 6 days of time off, excluding holidays
• Navy scrubs are required

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Certifications:
  
  BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Experience with EPIC EMR is strongly preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
