Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active NC or compact RN license and at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a trauma level III teaching hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac and neurological cases such as chest pain, syncope, and angina
• RN patient ratio is 1:5; CNA ratio is 1:10
• Shift is 7a-7p with every other weekend required
• Float within the region to multiple hospital facilities as needed, within scope of practice
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV Pumps, and Omnicell Med Dispensing systems are used
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Work as part of a collaborative team with supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, and IV team support
• Department fosters a supportive and inclusive team culture
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Navy scrubs are required
• Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays and may request up to 6 days off outside of holidays
• Free parking provided for all employees
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
• If floating mid-shift between facilities, work time will be paid during travel

• Active NC or compact state RN license
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required for Resource Team
• Strong general Med/Tele skillset including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pump use, and cardiac drip management
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit
