Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience and an active NC or compact license.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital and Trauma Level III center
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5; CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Shift times are 7a-7p ); 36 hour shift option available
• Every other weekend is required
• Travelers will work 75% of designated holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice; paid for time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell med dispensing
• Responsibilities include care for patients with cardiac and stroke diagnoses, administering medications including cardiac drips and blood products, and managing tubes and drains
• Support provided by charge RN, supervisor, resource RN, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist or RT as available
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days departmental training
• Scrub color is navy
• Free employee parking is available in the parking deck
• Must be able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
• Up to 6 days RTO can be requested (excluding holidays); additional time off requires extension of contract

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with recent experience within the last year
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Strong Med/Tele skillset including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
• Able to manage cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Epic experience required
• Willingness to float to multiple regional facilities as needed
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unit
