Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a teaching hospital setting with floating requirements and night shifts.

• Hospital-based Med/Surg Tele unit with a 10-bed capacity and an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5; CNA to patient ratio is 1:10
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Night shift position )
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within Region 1 to facilities including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH for peds only) as needed, within scope of practice
• If floating mid-shift, paid travel time between facilities while remaining on the clock
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Responsibilities include medication administration, cardiac monitoring, management of various drains and tubes, and patient admissions/discharges
• Support available from supervisor, charge RN, resource RN, IV/VAT team, and additional hospital-wide resources
• Department fosters a supportive team environment with unit engagement activities
• Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved, excluding holidays
• Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Scrub color is navy
• Free parking available for employees
• First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred

• Active NC or compact RN license
• At least 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required for Resource Team
• General Med/Surg Tele skillset including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and medication drip management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the home unit according to the radius rule
• EPIC charting experience preferred
