Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position with night shifts, regional floating, and advanced cardiac care requirements.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Average daily census is 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5; CNA-to-patient ratio is 1:10
• Night shift schedule from with every other weekend rotation
• Required to float within Region 1 facilities as needed and within scope of practice, including mid-shift floating
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Unit culture emphasizes team collaboration with supportive leadership and engaging activities
• Support includes supervisors, charge RNs, resource RNs for admissions/discharges, RT, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists available 24/7
• Full orientation provided including two departmental training days
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free employee parking is available
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension if needed to meet hours

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required for Resource Team roles
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, drain/tube management, and PCA pump use
• Experience administering cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Epic EMR experience preferred
