Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with at least 18 months of recent experience and a NC or compact license for a regional float position.
Responsibilities- Position is within a Med/Surg Tele unit at a hospital with 14 private rooms
- Patient population includes cancer, neutropenic fever, medical overflow, and patients receiving chemo/biotherapy
- Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5
- No on-call responsibilities
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Travelers are required to work 75% of major holidays
- Floating within Region 1 facilities, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division hospitals (including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH for peds only) as needed and within scope of practice
- Day shift schedule from with additional possible shift times and )
- EMR is Epic; utilizes Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell med dispensing systems
- Tele patients are remotely monitored in an off-unit arrhythmia center
- Role includes starting IVs, managing drains, and providing care to a varied Med/Surg patient population
- Oncology RNs experienced in port accessing may perform this skill
- CNAs provide broad support, including ADLs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and glucometer checks
- Team includes charge nurse, IV/VAT team, and access to respiratory therapy and hospitalists
- Scrub color is navy
- Free parking is provided

- Day and facility orientation provided, including NEO and 2 days departmental training
- Up to 6 days of time off may be approved, with holidays excluded
- Travelers who float mid-shift are paid for travel time between facilities
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification is preferred but not required
- Experience with PIV starts, NG tube management, pleurx drains, surgical drain and chest tube management required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must live at least 50 miles from the primary facility
- First-time travelers are not accepted
