Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with a night shift schedule and strong Med/Tele experience required.

• Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• Average daily census is 8 patients
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5 and CNA-to-patient ratio is 1:10
• Night shift, , with schedules running in 6-week cycles
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• Must work 75% of holidays per contract
• Required to float to multiple facilities within Region 1 as needed and within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• No on-call or call back required
• Responsibilities include comprehensive care for Med/Surg Telemetry patients with complex cardiac and neurological needs
• Strong team environment with a supportive supervisor, charge RN, and resource RN
• Collaborates with IV/vascular access team and shares phlebotomy duties
• Receives hospital and departmental orientation with 2 days on the unit
• Navy scrubs required while on shift
• Free parking available for staff
• Unit fosters a welcoming culture with organized team activities
• First-time travelers will be considered, though preference is given to those with prior travel experience
• Up to 6 days of requested time off may be approved excluding holidays; additional days may require extension of contract

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required if assigned to Resource Team
• Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, NGT placement, PCA pumps, and cardiac drips
• Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Epic EMR charting experience preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit for eligibility
