Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and North Carolina or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Position is located in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Night shift available from
- Patients include those with chronic diseases, CHF, mental health needs, addiction services, IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
- Average daily census is 51 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4-6, may increase to 1:7-8 during surge periods
- Use of EPIC EMR is required
- Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, tele-medicine cart, doppler, and language interpreter
- Floating may occur within Region 1 to multiple hospital facilities when needed and within scope of practice
- No on-call responsibilities
- Every other weekend is required
- Work schedules are based on 6-week cycles
- Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
- Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care to a diverse Med/Surg Tele population and managing patients with complex chronic conditions
- Department support includes nurse manager, clinical supervisors, CNAs, rapid response RN, and clinical mentor
- Travelers floating between facilities mid-shift will remain on the clock and be compensated for travel time
- Two-day unit orientation provided in addition to facility onboarding
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Free parking is available
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability
- Up to 6 days off may be approved (excluding holidays), with time added to contract if minimum hours are not met
- Travelers must work assigned holidays as per contract
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and management of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- Skilled in IV starts, blood product administration, care of tubes/drains, and wound care
- Experience using EPIC EMR required
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit for eligibility
- First-time travelers will be considered
