Night Shift Production Supervisor – Conversion

Company: Celgard, LLC – a subsidiary of Polypore International, LP, part of the Asahi Kasei Group.

Location: Concord, NC (Charlotte metro area).

About

The Role

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join the Leadership team at Celgard’s manufacturing facility in Concord, NC. The role reports directly to the Production Manager and oversees a team of Manufacturing Technicians. The position requires 12‑hour shifts from 6 pm to 6 am on a 2‑2‑3 schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all operational aspects of the Conversion area (Deply, Slitting, Testing, Pack‑Out, and Backwinding).
  • Lead behavior‑based safety initiatives; ensure technicians plan safety into daily routines.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and schedule manpower, equipment, and resources within policies and budgets.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training of new and transferred employees.
  • Ensure effective operation of the production process; use key operating indicators to control product cost, material usage, and machine downtime.
  • Manage employee performance and development.
  • Identify problems, troubleshoot, and solve issues affecting yield and equipment utilization.
  • Maintain and analyze shift measures; conduct shift reporting; audit ERP for accuracy and variance.
  • Ensure consistent, equitable working relationships with all team members.
  • Utilize company systems to facilitate continuous improvement and lead cross‑functional meetings.
  • Work with fellow supervisors to provide safety, housekeeping, and quality leadership.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (related field preferred).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory experience with direct reports.
  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong math skills and solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 and lean manufacturing principles and 5S is a plus.
  • Ability to work a 12‑hour 6 pm‑6 am shift on a 2‑2‑3 schedule.
