Anglicare is seeking a Hospital Chaplain to join our Chaplaincy & Mission (CAM) team at Concord - Mental Health Hospital in a permanent part-time role (1 day per week).
Aboutthe Role
In this role, you will provide pastoral, emotional and spiritual care to people in hospital, offering hope and support at some of the most significant moments in their lives. You will also help facilitate Christian ministry within the hospital and build healthy and supportive connections with local Anglican churches. This is a deeply rewarding ministry position where you will bring spiritual care, comfort and encouragement to patients, families and hospital staff.
You will also participate in an on-call roster to meet urgent pastoral needs.
Our Chaplaincy team includes both ordained and non-ordained Anglican ministers. This position is open to men or women who are ordained Anglican ministers (preferred) or suitably qualified lay ministers who are eligible to be licensed by the Archbishop of Sydney as Anglicare Chaplains.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to requests from patients and relatives, providing compassionate pastoral support.
- Facilitate chapel services within the hospital as required.
- Work collaboratively with chaplains from other denominations and Faiths.
- Participate in Hospital Chaplaincy Department meetings.
- Engage fully with Anglicare Chaplaincy and attend meetings and training.
- Develop and maintain supportive relationships with local Anglican parishes.
- Ordination in the Anglican Church of Australia or a minimum three-year tertiary qualification in theology/ministry as a layperson, eligible for licensing.
- At least five years’ ministry experience in a parish or chaplaincy setting.
- Demonstrated pastoral care experience with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong leadership and relational skills.
- Personal commitment to ongoing growth in the Christian faith.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
