Staff Accountant; Sales Tax

SHOE SHOW, INC., the country’s largest privately held footwear retailer, operating for over 65 years with more than 1,000 stores in 47 states, is seeking a Staff Accountant (Sales Tax) to join our team. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented early-career tax professional with some exposure to sales and use tax processes. In this role, you will assist with the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and support compliance efforts, including business license renewals.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of sales and use tax regulations, strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.

• Prepare and manage multi-state monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
• Maintain and research sales and use tax rates for brick-and-mortar stores.
• Respond to audit inquiries for sales and use tax.
• Maintain compliance/tax calendar for preparation, processing, and filing of sale and use tax and business licenses.
• Maintain monthly accruals and perform monthly account reconciliations.

• JD Edwards Enterprise One (Oracle)

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Relevant tax experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assess and enhance operational processes.
• Strong Excel skills, including report and template development.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve sales tax discrepancies through problem-solving and research.
