Introduction: A prime leadership role within a Catholic school district where the President serves as the primary steward of both Bishop Brady High School (grades 9‑12) and St. John Regional School (pre‑K‑8) in Concord, NH. The President is appointed by the Bishop of Manchester and reports directly to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools. The role requires a practicing Catholic leader who advances Catholic identity while managing all aspects of school operations, fiscal stewardship, and community engagement.
ResponsibilitiesThe President is the Chief Executive Officer of the schools, accountable for daily operations, strategic planning, financial stability, and maintaining Catholic values across the school communities. Key duties include:
- Promote the ecclesial purpose of the schools and their function as ministries of the Church.
- Communicate and implement the bishop’s directives affecting the schools.
- Serve as chief executive officer to the Superintendent.
- Provide training, reports, and leadership to the Advisory Board.
- Maintain strong communication with the Advisory Board.
- Co‑coordinate strategic planning, development, and capital construction efforts with the Superintendent and school communities.
- Participate in cultivating major donors and soliciting financial gifts.
- Align all policies and practices with diocesan policies, including financial policies designed to ensure the viability of the schools.
- Oversee all development and fundraising efforts, including grants.
- Supervise the development office employees.
- Direct the financial assistance program(s).
- Maintain procedures consistent with NEASC accreditation processes.
- Serve as the chief representative of the schools with the public and the media.
- Work collaboratively with parents, patrons, and the broader community to build lines of communication, understanding, and support.
- Provide updates on significant school‑level issues to the Catholic School Office and the respective diocesan offices.
- Oversee all public‑relations actions by the schools and their personnel.
- Oversee the schools’ budgets ensuring accountability and alignment of expenditures with the mission of each school.
- Supervise, evaluate and provide professional development opportunities for the schools’ principals and assist the principals, as needed, in the overall management of school operations.
- If a principal vacancy occurs, approve candidates for the principal position and sign the principal’s contract.
- Ensure the schools collect, maintain, and communicate required records and reports.
- Oversee departmental communications, correspondence, publications, and reports.
- Help mediate school disputes that cannot be resolved at the school administration level.
- May work closely with the Chancellor and needed legal counsel on certain policy and personnel issues.
- Maintain membership in several organizations and committees as needed.
Position encounters a wide diversity of work situations with a high degree of complexity. The President is responsible for developing policies and procedures and performs duties with little direction. The President leads or oversees all development and financial matters and maintains confidentiality and discretion in sensitive matters.
SupervisesDirectly supervises and evaluates the school principals, development director, finance director, and admissions director.
Environment- Office environment – clean, well‑lit, environmentally comfortable, no fumes or airborne particles.
- Minimal exposure to chemicals related to copier equipment and general office solvents.
- Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required.
- Frequent grasping and manipulation of equipment and controls.
- Ability to travel throughout the diocese.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekends.
