Summary

Perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of one or multiple state facilities, buildings, or institutions; may include assignment to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Completion of eighth grade or equivalent.
  • License/Certification:
    None.
  • Other Requirements:
    None.
  • Trainee option:
    Not applicable.
  • Preferred:
    Experience providing cleaning services for a large complex or building and working as part of a team; ability to follow verbal directions.
Responsibilities
  • Perform light to medium physical custodial activities: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling equipment and materials to dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, wash walls and glass, and disinfect.
  • Routine building and facilities maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, adjusting or replacing fixtures, resetting machinery or environmental systems.
  • Remove snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salt and sand when needed; mow, cut hedges, and trim grass.
  • Move beds, furniture, equipment, partitions, materials, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
  • Perform condition checks of cleaning tools/equipment and replace or repair as needed; observe operation of building or facility’s mechanical, safety, or environmental systems and notify supervisor or team lead of any issues or concerns.
  • Apply appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; remove contaminated and non‑contaminated waste from buildings/facilities; dispose of waste as prescribed; adhere to health and safety requirements relevant to the work area or facility.
