We are seeking a remote full‑time Database Administrator who will implement, administer, and maintain enterprise databases on Oracle (HP/UX) and ensure the integrity and performance of development, testing, and production environments. The Database Administrator will provide leadership on database projects and act as a subject‑matter expert for developmental design and standards.
Responsibilities- Performs database, application, and system architecture design including logical/physical data modeling and dimensional modeling.
- Designs and implements plans for critical system changes.
- Analyzes and develops new approaches for system tuning and database design.
- Participates in project teams as the database design resource; develops project estimates for database activities and ensures integrity of design by enforcing development standards.
- Proactively recommends process and development methodology improvements; participates as subject‑matter expert for design reviews and technology/tool selection.
- Accountable for 99% system uptime on all HP Unix production systems.
- Establishes standards and best practices for SQL.
- Interacts with and coaches developers in SQL scripting best practices; initiates changes to process and procedures as appropriate.
- Develops database design documentation such as data decompositions and data flow diagrams; revises and maintains operating documentation as functions change.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science plus at least four years of DBA‑related experience or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and/or education. Systems analysis and programming experience required. Strong knowledge of PL/SQL, MS T‑SQL, Unix scripting, HP/UX and Windows is preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
Work ScheduleAll candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future. The typical work schedule is Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time with a full‑time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
