Summary
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) 2 is responsible for multi‑tasking clerical and patient customer service support functions as part of the patient care team. The HUC provides connectivity between providers, staff and inter/intra department areas through fax, phone and computers. The HUC may also register patients and perform other data management activities. The HUC acts under the direction of the daily shift supervisor and the unit resource person.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification, Registration & Licensure
Notary Public, State of New Hampshire, within 4 months of hire date, must be kept current.
Experience
Must have outstanding customer service skills. Experience with Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient and information flow at the desk area to clinical staff, patients/families, and other departments.
- Greet patients and families and complete the patient registration process.
- Complete order entry process, coordinate computer downtime, and manage patient information changes.
- Demonstrate time‑management skills.
- Prepare, organize, and disassemble patient medical records for charts according to HIMS specifications.
- Help ensure a clean, safe environment with appropriately stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
- Perform job‑specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a preceptor for new employees.

Light Material Handling Classification. The employee must regularly lift, carry or push/pull less than 20 pounds.
