Overview
Are you motivated to make a difference in the lives of children? Do you want to help create fantastic memories for local children? If so, join the Boys & Girls Club team at our Christa McAuliffe School location in Concord, NH. This position is available from August through the end of the school year, with the possibility of summer work at one of the summer camps.
You will lead recreational activities, arts and crafts, water games, and interact with members to make a positive impact on their lives. We are looking for individuals age 18+ with youth development experience to help implement educational, enrichment, and recreational activities. Join a fun team working together to help children succeed and grow into caring, responsible citizens.
- Prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcomes and encourages participation in age-appropriate day-to-day activities.
- Orient new members to the Club's daily scheduling and program expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, and Take Care); provide guidance and constructive feedback to promote development and skill building.
- Demonstrate leadership through safety and licensing best practices to ensure proper conduct and safety of members.
- Maintain accurate attendance records for members in their assigned group.
- Oversee and assist in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining program space and upkeep.
- Effectively implement and administer programs, monitor and evaluate safety, quality, and appearance of the site, and ensure equipment is in good condition.
- Evaluate programs continually, track outcomes, and ensure activities respond to member needs with attention to gender and cultural diversity.
- Document problems or issues using injury/incident reports and communicate with child care licensing as applicable.
- Participate in special programs and events, staff meetings, and open, professional communication with families, staff, and members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Age at least 17 to be a group leader in a school-age program; at least 19 for eligibility to be assigned to the senior program.
- One of the following: 600 hours experience with school-age children; 3 college credits in child development, education, recreation, or related field; certified coach; 5 years of parenting experience; or qualification as a group leader in a school-age program on or before 2022 adoption.
- Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate youth and manage behavior; strong communication with parents/guardians; ability to plan and implement quality youth programs.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications to meet licensing requirements.
- Occasional travel for meetings/training; may be asked to drive a Club van/short bus (21+ years) with a safe driving record.
- Must submit driving record to the Operations Director or human resources department.
- All candidates must submit for FBI fingerprint background check and background check through NH Criminal Records Dept. and First Advantage. The NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit employment for disqualifying findings. We reserve the right to determine employment status regardless of NH record review.
- Zero-tolerance policy for abuse; disciplinary action up to termination and cooperation with law enforcement for mistreatment.
Non-exempt, part-time, hourly position.
