Job Summary:

The Gambling Ambassador Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for the Gambling Ambassador Project, a Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Problem Gambling Services (OPGS) funded initiative. The Supervisor ensures that Peer Gambling Ambassadors are effectively delivering education, prevention, and awareness activities related to problem gambling within disproportionately impacted communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervision & Staff Support:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and orient Peer Gambling Ambassadors.
  • Provide individual supervision and annual performance evaluations, including disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to promote communication, accountability, and program fidelity.
  • Support professional development and ongoing training for Ambassadors.
  • Monitor scheduling and outreach coverage to ensure community needs are met.
  • Approve timesheets and mileage reimbursements.
  • Responsible to engage men of color (members/peers) and families in guided and purposeful conversations about gambling and how it affects recovery.
  • Increase awareness of what gambling is, where it is present in everyday life and build capacity of men to support each other through informed conversations that promote preventative peer-to-peer supports.

Program Oversight:

  • Ensure Peer Ambassadors consistently provide education, prevention, and awareness activities in community-based settings.
  • Monitor and review Ambassador reports and data submissions for accuracy and timeliness in line with OPGS and Gándara requirements.
  • Maintain program records, spreadsheets, and reporting tools as directed by the funder and Gándara leadership.
  • Foster and maintain partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Ensure program fidelity, quality improvement goals, and division objectives are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Preferred: lived experience with substance use recovery and/or problem gambling.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating staff or volunteers.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling and staff coordination.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or Bicultural preferred.

Valid driver’s license.

Reliable transportation.
