Job Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager of Surgical Day Care, provides pre‑surgical and post‑surgical care to patients undergoing surgical procedures and destined for same‑day discharge. These nurses practice collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, nursing peers, and other disciplines in a decentralized environment. They utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit, as directed by nursing management.
Nursing care is delivered in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies and professional organizations. The nurse is accountable for the safety of nursing care delivered or supervised.
- Education:
Graduate of a professional accredited nursing school. - Experience:
Two years medical/surgical nursing required. - Preferred:
Experience in CCU, ED, or PACU. - Licensure and/or certification:
Current RN license in Massachusetts required. - BLS healthcare provider required.
- ACLS required.
- IV certification required.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Computer skills required.
