PCT - Emergency Department

ED Technician Responsibilities

• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care to ED patients in collaboration with ED Registered Nurses and Physicians.
• Perform specialized skills including custom orthopedic splinting, assisting with orthopedic casting, phlebotomy, dressing applications, suturing preparation and urinary catheter insertion.
• Assist with bioterrorism and disaster preparedness, including responding to mass patient influx.
• All duties supervised by an ED Registered Nurse or Emergency Physician.
• Report to the Director of Emergency Services.

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 1 year pre‑hospital EMS experience preferred.
• Licensure / Certification: BLS healthcare provider required; EMT Certification preferred.
• Skills:
  • Take vital signs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • English reading, writing, and oral communication.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
