The Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician, reporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons.
Job Functions
- Greet patients upon arrival, maintain orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Answer phones and retrieve and distribute messages appropriately.
- Process patients quickly and accurately through the computer-based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries, and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
- Order necessary office and medical supplies and ensure security of all medications.
- Capture and enter high-quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.).
- Identify insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, process insurance verification, and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
- Communicate with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain and support patient’s rights to care, privacy, and respect.
- Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient.
- Enter daily and surgical billing charges to Athena.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. - Experience:
One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred. - Licensure and/or Certification:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred. - Skills:
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required. - Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of Athena-based scheduling/billing software helpful.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third-party billing, and revenue cycle preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidential information required.
