Summary

Manages inspection activities within Production areas to ensure product quality standards are maintained and customer requirements are met. Provides overall guidance of inspection activities to ensure resources are appropriately utilized. Maintains an effective employee unit through appropriate team training, development, and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in metrology tool use, CMM operation/programming and GD&T.
  • Creates, documents and implements inspection criteria and procedures including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and serve as subject matter expert in metrology.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data (SPC) and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.
  • Formulates documents and maintains quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives, including ISO certifications.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, SPC, CMM, Metrology, CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, QMS, Gage R&R, APQP, NPI, MSA, 5S/Kaizen.
  • Understands requirements and oversees inspectors work to ensure product quality requirements are met.
  • Manages the identification, segregation, and documentation of nonconforming material as documented in production by all personnel.
  • Review and improve existing inspection processes, tools, and systems.
  • Coordinate priorities from internal customers to meet department goals.
  • Participate in discussions with customers and/or auditors as required.
  • Participate in cross departmental/divisional projects related to inspection activities.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to company, site, and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to create specific training programs for Quality Inspectors.
  • Compile and report quality data for internal and external customers including FAI.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and use of SPC and Control Plans.
  • Ability to guide the organization on best measurement practices and documentation.
  • Implement a regular Quality Audit program, maintaining current procedures and making recommendations for enhancements as appropriate.
  • Provide work direction to Line Auditors and determine manpower requirements for audit areas.
  • Compile and measure audit results so that progress towards continuous improvement can be assessed.
  • Work with functional groups to improve process compliance.
  • Interface with support groups to highlight areas that could assist in improving process compliance.
  • Maintain required employee records.
  • Participate and/or lead Customer Support and Quality Improvement teams to continually improve product quality and throughput and reduce overtime.
  • Act as a back-up for the Manager as required.
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate and correct customer issues and complaints relating to quality in a timely manner.
  • Supervise inspectors testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams and leadership.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant management to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within the company.
  • Provide, and oversee inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Apply Benchmark Quality Management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Interact with site Supplier Quality Engineer(s) for vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts. Investigate, communicate and correct out-of-spec parts received in a timely manner.
  • Create and direct environmental test functions and applications.
  • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
  • Provide expertise, and actively participate in the overall safety management program.
