Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring a current CA RN license and at least 2 years of recent CVICU experience.

• Work in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a hospital setting
• 12-hour night shifts on a 26-week contract
• Patient population includes acute MI, CHF, PE, cardiomyopathy, complex post-cath lab patients, some IABPs, Impella, cardiac surgery, CABG, AAA, vascular cases, thoracotomies, and pneumonectomies
• Unit has 12 beds in two pods; ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity and census, per CA state mandates
• Average length of stay for cardiac surgery patients is 1-2 days; approximately 5 cardiac cases weekly
• Float within scope as needed
• Schedule typically includes every other weekend
• Documentation is completed using Epic EMR, which is preferred but not required
• Scrubs may be any color except jeans
• Duties include caring for complex cardiovascular patients, managing advanced cardiac support devices, and postoperative monitoring
• Will not be assigned fresh heart surgery patients as a traveler
• Detailed dress code information provided on first day
• Must adhere to 50-mile radius rule for eligibility
• Previous travel experience is preferred but not required

• Active, current CA RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• CCRN certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must provide two clinical references from the last two places of employment in a leadership role covering the last year
• Complete work history for the past 7 years with details for any gaps over 30 days
• Current skills checklist completed within the last year
