Basic Function
The primary function of the Associate Program Director for the AS in Radiologic Technology and XT with Medical Assisting Skills programs is to provide full-time, on-site leadership supporting the day-to-day academic and operational functions of both programs at the campus level. This role serves as a key liaison between the XTMAS and AS RT programs, working collaboratively with the Program Director to ensure consistent program delivery, strong student support, and effective faculty and clinical coordination.
Responsibilities include teaching and laboratory instruction, oversight of the Radiation Protection Plan, active engagement in daily campus operations, and participation in the maintenance and support of clinical affiliates as needed to ensure high-quality clinical education experiences for students while promoting compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to students regarding academic concerns, questions, and overall success in the program.
- Provide on-site leadership and serve as a liaison between the XTMAS and AS RT programs to ensure alignment, consistency, and effective communication across both programs.
- Teach assigned didactic and laboratory courses and actively support lab operations to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality instructional experiences.
- Oversee implementation and ongoing compliance of the Radiation Protection Plan in collaboration with faculty, lab instructors, and clinical coordinators.
- Work closely with clinical coordinators and lab instructors to monitor student performance, address concerns, and promote successful progression through imaging programs.
- Support instructors and clinical educators by assisting with student issues, academic concerns, remediation planning, and professional guidance.
- Conduct periodic clinical site visits as needed to support clinical affiliates, address issues, strengthen relationships, and contribute to clinical program growth and development.
- Participate in planning and coordination activities related to clinical education to ensure strong partnerships and positive clinical learning environments.
- Assists in conducting monthly faculty meetings (at a minimum) discussing program issues while ensuring high faculty attendance/participation – these meetings may be nursing specific or education-specific or a combination of both
- Support instructors in addressing student learning needs by coordinating and arranging tutoring sessions as appropriate.
- Make recommendation to hiring committee to hire / discharge instructors at their campus using classroom observation, clinical observation, and performance evaluation forms
- Assist Program Directors with periodic performance reviews by observing faculty and clinical educators and providing documented feedback as appropriate.
- Monitor and update faculty and clinical folders as necessary (student feedback, evaluations, goal setting, reprimands, improvement plans, continuing education plans, in-service training, etc.)
- Participate in program advisory board meetings, improvement committees, and meetings as requested to give feedback and provide recommendations to the Program Director.
