Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

About the Role

The Controller is a senior finance and accounting leader responsible for overseeing day to day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for a growing organization in the construction, real estate development, and manufacturing space. This role partners closely with executive leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational discipline while supporting scalable growth. The Controller plays a critical role in strengthening financial infrastructure, improving processes, and providing clear financial insights to support informed decision making.

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month end and year end close.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and short term liquidity planning in coordination with leadership.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to assist leadership with financial planning.
• Partner with operations and project teams to track project costs, job costing, and profitability.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance activities with external accountants and advisors.
• Maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and financial service providers.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff and oversee external bookkeeping or accounting partners.
• Support implementation, optimization, and ongoing use of ERP and financial reporting systems.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong experience in construction accounting, real estate development, manufacturing, or project based environments.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing month end close, audits, and financial statement preparation.
• Proven ability to improve accounting processes and build scalable financial infrastructure.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non financial stakeholders.

• CPA or other advanced accounting certification.
• Experience with job costing, project accounting, or multi entity accounting structures.
• Background implementing or managing ERP systems and modern accounting software.
• Experience working in a high growth, entrepreneurial, or scaling organization.
