Design Intern We are looking for someone who is:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and current enrollment or a recent graduate of an accredited college, university, or educational institution with major coursework in civil/environmental engineering or related fields.
  • Solutions‑focused and a creative problem‑solver.
  • A motivated self‑starter with effective interpersonal and technical skills.
  • An organized and results‑driven team player.
A Few Reasons You Might Enjoy This Job
  • Gain hands‑on experience by assisting the engineering design division on various capital improvement projects, which include, but are not limited to, open channel conveyance facilities, buried pipelines, pump stations, storage reservoirs, treatment plants, and associated support facilities.
  • Apply engineering principles and gain understanding of the design process by performing engineering calculations; developing or reviewing design drawings and specifications; and developing project correspondence such as emails, memorandums, PowerPoint presentations, and technical reports.
  • Learn the importance of field work by taking measurements, documenting site conditions, or observing active construction.
  • Improve communication skills by participating in project meetings with consultants, regulatory agencies, or other CCWD department representatives.

Each internship position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills and practical experience in a specific area of water resource management. The intern selected will have the opportunity to collaborate with seasoned professionals and contribute to various aspects of running a major water supply utility. Through a combination of fieldwork, research, and analysis, the intern will gain valuable insights into the complexities of water systems and the strategies employed to optimize their functionality.
