College Student Internships
Are you a college student looking to gain paid experience in your field of study while serving your community in a meaningful way? The City of Concord is currently offering internship opportunities in the following areas:
- Engineering: $25 - $30/hour
- Parks & Urban Forestry: $22 - $26.70/hour
- Assist City of Concord Engineers with project development and construction delivery.
- Support plan review and design for urban infrastructure projects.
- Perform engineering calculations for costs, hydraulics, earthwork, and material quantities.
- Assist with field visits to active construction sites and review contractor material submittals.
- Draft support documents in AutoCAD and maintain project records.
- Collect and manage field-based data for municipal operations.
- Enter data using desktop and GIS-based software; filter, migrate, and digitize legacy records.
- Conduct asset inventory and field surveys of park conditions.
- Support grant applications and community organizing efforts.
- Assist in coordination of project work and provide general office support.
- Timeline:
Starts June 2026 and ends August 30, 2026. - Commitment:
Up to 40 hours per week (full‑time summer schedule) for Engineering interns; 24–40 hours per week (year‑round up to 1,000 hours) for Parks & Urban Forestry interns.
- Education:
Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher in a four‑year engineering program (Engineering interns) or completing high school/GED plus college coursework related to the assigned program area; must be enrolled in six or more units toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree. - Technical
Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD and Excel (Engineering interns). - Interest:
Genuine desire to learn about local government engineering projects and collaborative mindset (Parks & Urban Forestry interns). - Driver's License:
Valid California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (required for all interns).
