Overview of YOUR role as an Electrical and Controls Engineer

Our client is seeking a self‑motivated, organized, and results‑driven Electrical and Controls Engineer to join their close‑knit team. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and career advancement, with mentorship from experienced senior engineers as you progress toward professional licensure. The position focuses on low to medium  systems and substation work, providing hands‑on experience in designing comprehensive electrical and control systems for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities.

While EIT (FE) certification is preferred, candidates committed to pursuing their FE or PE examination in the near future are encouraged to apply.

As an Electrical and Controls Engineer YOU will:

• Design low‑voltage and medium‑voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and other electrical/control systems for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities.
• Design industrial, commercial, and manufacturing control systems, including the plant‑wide integration of PLC and network hardware and interconnections, and control panel design.
• Perform electrical and control engineering tasks associated with projects, including design, drafting, engineering calculations, and specifications.
• Work under, and receive mentorship from, a senior engineer on comprehensive electrical and control design packages including: electrical and control diagrams, plans, details, panel arrangements, bill of materials, and hazardous area classification.
• Manage the assigned electrical and controls work package deliverables, including coordinating with other disciplines and drafting teams.
• Prioritize and set deadlines, while also being adaptable and flexible to changing needs.
• Communicate competently with team members and clients, both verbally and in writing.
• Interact directly with clients to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance, and maintain strong professional relationships.
• Work in the field for engineering surveys and commissioning activities.
• Demonstrate leadership in project coordination and team collaboration.

YOU are the ideal Electrical and Controls Engineer candidate if you have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3‑5 years of applicable experience.
• Experience with low to medium voltage systems.
• Solid basis of design and drafting using AutoCAD or Microstation (or both) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of codes, standards, engineering best practices, and quality control.
• Understanding of the balance between technical excellence and practical engineering.
• Ability to be accountable, well organized, and take pride in meeting deadlines and milestones.
• Analytical and detail‑oriented mindset.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact confidently with clients.
• Leadership personality with the ability to take muscul effect and guide project deliverables.
• Comfortable working in the field for engineering surveys and commissioning activities.
