Base pay range: $103,563/yr - $181,230/yr

CDM Smith’s Concord office has an immediate need for a mid-level engineer with a drinking water or wastewater design background to support senior engineers on a variety of water and wastewater projects in the Water Services Group locally and across the West Coast.

• With general direction, create water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc., engineering designs to meet client project requirements.
• Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and sign off on completed designs. Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications; update design requirements as necessary. Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
• Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge by developing white papers and technical design documentation; submit technical papers and designs for publishing. Collaborate with sales to create proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs); review drafts for compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Meet with current and potential clients to review design needs. Attend conferences and events to raise visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with sales staff.
• Performs Other Duties As Required. Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentor staff and develop them for growth; may supervise the work of junior engineers on projects.

• Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required (10% travel is specified).
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Skills and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of CAD/Drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering design principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.

Pay Range Information Pay range minimum: $103,563;
Pay range maximum: $181,230. The pay range is a good faith estimate and varies by geographic location and other factors such as role, experience, and qualifications.
