Overview

Minimum Qualifications

The City of Commerce City is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Sports Field/Gym Supervisor II
. The Youth Sports Field/Gym Supervisor will supervise various youth sports programs. They will help to establish and maintain a safe, positive, and fun sports environment for all participants. They will follow all City and Department guidelines and policies. Weekend, holiday, and evening hours are scheduled as needed.

Hiring Salary Is Dependent Upon Experience. The hiring range for Youth Sports Field/Gym Supervisor is $17.76 - $20.11 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

Field/Gym Supervisor I
  • Previous experience in youth sports is a plus.
  • Knowledge of youth sports philosophies.
  • General understanding of scoreboard operations and athletic equipment.
  • Motor vehicle and recreational vehicle.
  • To have or obtain CPR, Basic First Aid, and Concussion Awareness training.
  • Ability to be trained on conflict management.
Field/Gym Supervisor II

All of the above, plus:

  • Minimum of three years' experience as a field/gym supervisor.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

Field/Gym Supervisor I
  • Must be highly motivated, professional, and have the capacity to take direction successfully.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of youth sports.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong knowledge in the applications of equipment necessary for the completion of daily activities.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information.
  • Well-developed customer service and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse people.
  • Capable of speaking with poise, clarity, and confidence.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented atmosphere with an emphasis on effective communication and cooperation.
  • Must be able to perform under high stress situations.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
All Of The Above Plus
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a field/gym supervisor.
  • Extensive comprehension of the youth sports program.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and activities of the Parks and Recreation Department as they pertain to the performance of the duties of the Youth Sports Field/Gym Supervisor.
  • Capacity to form independent judgments and decision-making within established policy.
  • Proven ability to lead, organize, and supervise both staff and citizens alike.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

    Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.
  • Golf Course Green Fees:
    Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
