Wall Saw Operator

GENERAL

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Saw cutting Operator is responsible for operating saw cutting equipment to cut concrete and other materials safely and efficiently on demolition or construction sites. This role ensures precise execution of cuts according to project specifications, maintains equipment, and follows all safety protocols to uphold a hazard‑free work environment. The Saw cutting Operator collaborates with team members to meet project deadlines and contributes to the overall success of the project.

• Operate saw cutting equipment, including wall saws, walk‑behind saws, and core drills, to cut concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Perform routine maintenance on saw cutting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Inspect tools and equipment before and after use to identify and address potential issues.

• Set up and mark cutting lines on materials based on project blueprints and specifications.
• Assist with preparing job sites for saw cutting activities, including clearing debris and positioning equipment.
• Ensure cuts are made with precision to meet project standards and specifications.

• Follow all site safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure proper handling of tools and materials.
• Report any hazards, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.

• Work closely with site supervisors and project managers to ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Communicate effectively with crew members to coordinate activities and minimize disruptions.
• Assist team members with additional tasks as needed to support project completion.

• Proficiency in operating saw cutting tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret project blueprints and specifications.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices related to saw cutting.
• Physical ability to perform labor‑intensive tasks, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in executing cuts.
• Strong work ethic and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in saw cutting or related construction roles preferred.
• Familiarity with concrete cutting techniques and equipment maintenance.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and debris.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of equipment and materials up to 75 pounds.
• Requires standing, bending, and operating equipment for extended periods.
• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel‑toe boots.
• Regular work hours with occasional overtime or weekend shifts based on project demands.

• Proficient in operating and maintaining saw cutting tools and equipment.
• Understanding of material properties and how they affect cutting techniques.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and job site safety requirements.
• Physical stamina and endurance to perform labor‑intensive tasks.
• Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and priorities.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and expand skillsets within the field.
