Under the direction of the Construction Manager, the Construction Inspection Trainee assists in a variety of analytical and administrative tasks essential to the successful completion of projects undertaken by the Public Works Department. Projects and tasks will be directly and indirectly related to construction. This position will learn essential construction skills and terminology, including City standards, awareness of materials and tools needed, interpreting plans, identifying defects, and understanding relevant codes and regulations.

This position is entry-level and a temporary position.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License or have ability to obtain within 30 days from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

The Construction Inspection Trainee assists in a variety of analytical and administrative tasks essential to the successful completion of projects undertaken by the Public Works Department. Process Overview

Qualification Review: HR will screen applications for minimum qualifications after the posting closes.

Application Review: Applications for candidates that meet minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring manager, who will review and evaluate application materials.

Interview(s): We aim to schedule interviews with candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and pass the application review. Depending on the number of applications received, phone screens may be required to identify the best-qualified candidates.

Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.

Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.

Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.

Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.

Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase around the time of their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation.

Salary and Benefits
