Job Summary

A Service Technician performs basic diagnostics and repairs including vehicle inspections, oil changes, and other maintenance tasks in a timely manner to meet quality, time, and cost goals. The position requires basic mechanical skills on medium/heavy duty trucks and buses, knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools, and diagnostic equipment, and the ability to drive and operate various equipment under varying conditions.

The technician must maintain a high level of organization, detail orientation, and customer service focus, working cooperatively with teammates and management.

Essential Functions
  • Team player focused on overall dealership success
  • Strong desire to gain knowledge and pursue training
  • Performs repairs and preventive maintenance services
  • Inspects and repairs minor electrical, hydraulic, suspension, and brake systems
  • Advises service writer of estimated repair time and materials needed
  • Completes work within standard repair times (SRTs)
  • Calls for emergency breakdowns and performs safety check inspections
  • Identifies warrantable repairs, documents on repair order
  • Completes required paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage and repair times
  • Reviews and assigns repairs identified on driver vehicle inspection reports
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate standards and safety procedures
  • Ensures all repairs are completed as assigned
  • Updates job knowledge through education and technical publications
  • Bus experience is a huge plus
  • CDE certifications (necessary for high‑end pay scale) are a plus
