Our Pain Management Program brings together board-certified physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to address the full spectrum of pain conditions with advanced, minimally invasive treatments. We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to support Dr.
Jerry Thomas, a double board-certified interventional pain management physician, as part of our expanding outpatient pain management services across Long Island.
Catholic Health’s Pain Management Program offers a collaborative, patient-centered approach to treating acute and chronic pain. Providers work closely with specialists in neurology, orthopedics, physical therapy, and rehabilitation to develop customized treatment plans that improve function and quality of life.
About Dr. Jerry ThomasDr. Jerry Thomas is a double board-certified physician specializing in interventional pain management. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University Medical Center & Weill Cornell Medical Center) and an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Thomas is known for his expertise in minimally invasive pain interventions and his commitment to serving the Long Island community.
PositionSummary
The Advanced Practice Provider will play a key role in supporting Dr. Thomas by providing high-quality outpatient pain management care, assisting with procedures, performing evaluations, and coordinating multidisciplinary treatment plans. This role is ideal for an APP with an interest in pain management, PM&R, orthopedics, or neurology.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive pain assessments, histories, and physical examinations
- Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with Dr. Thomas
- Assist with and/or manage pre- and post-procedural care for interventional pain procedures
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, labs, and imaging
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with scope of practice
- Provide patient education on treatment options, procedures, and pain management strategies
- Coordinate care with specialists across Catholic Health’s network
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record
- Neck and back pain
- Radiculopathy and neuropathic pain
- Joint and musculoskeletal pain
- Degenerative spine conditions
- Post-surgical pain
- Chronic pain syndromes
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State
- Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
- Prior experience in pain management, orthopedics, PM&R, neurology, or related specialty preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
USD $69.54 - USD $93.00 /Hr.
