Position: Life Enhancement Associate Temporary

Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short‑term rehabilitation and long‑term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on‑site dialysis and infusion therapy.

Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.

We are currently seeking a Temporary Life Enhancement Associate who will be scheduled to work full time with rotating weekends (every other Saturday and Sunday).

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION

The Life Enhancement Associate coordinates all successful programs and activities for the community and members. This includes both internal and external programming focused on overall member well‑being and engagement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain a professional manner, attitude, and dress at all times, communicating friendly and collaborative demeanor with peers, board members, applicants, guests, residents, and others.
  • Communicate all information to interested parties, including inter‑office, guests, vendors, or others, maintaining a discreet manner with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Accurately maintain all resident information while complying with confidentiality as per Gurwin Policy.
  • Independently initiate job duties and functions while responding to immediate needs for the benefit of the community or members.
  • Demonstrate high‑level attention to detail with work completed, immediate workspace, and overall community presentation within control.
  • Promote teamwork among all supervisory and peer team members while being a positive working environment culture leader.
  • Facilitate life‑enhancing programs based on membership needs, requests, and the schedule of such programs as directed by the Lead Life Enhancement Associate.
  • Participate in all activities and programs being offered from the Sales and Marketing team as directed.
  • Assist with health coaching and coordinating fitness programs specific to each member as requested.
  • Manage all community space access with the Lead Life Enhancement Associate to ensure proper use and accessibility.
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies needed while communicating defects immediately to the Lead Life Enhancement Associate/Environmental Engineering department.
  • Manage/Facilitate all programs in the Fitness Center, Pool, Holistic Center, Art Studio, and other community areas.
  • Able to manage multiple requests and tasks at a time with varying needs.
  • Perform all other duties as requested or required by the Administration team.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to understand and follow instructions while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Recreational/Activities experience in related field preferred.
  • Must be able to work varying hours and be flexible to community needs.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Complexity: Able to plan and prioritize programming while independently initiating all tasks and maintaining a high level of work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Confidential Information: Constant contact with residents, guests, peers, and others requires the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Must maintain a positive, productive, courteous, and cooperative manner at all times. Will be exposed to highly confidential information, demonstrate confidentiality, and only disclose with the Lead Life Enhancement Associate or others specifically directed by the Executive Director.
