What You Will Do
  • You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
  • You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
  • You will perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
  • You will perform snow & ice operations.

Qualifications

Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary. Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of basic equipment. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Supplemental Information
  • This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
  • All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
  • All 3rd shift employees receive a 0.60 shift differential.
  • Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
  • The final candidate will undergo a criminal background check; an individual assessment of prior convictions may exclude applicants.
  • Final applicants may be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Positive test may disqualify.
  • This position is subject to federal testing regulations (49 CFR Part 40 and 382) on drug and alcohol use.
  • FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse registration is required for selected applicants.

All candidates should be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship for an employment visa is not available.
