As an Operations Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting daily transportation operations. This entry‑level position involves answering calls and emails, building orders, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with warehouses, customers, and carriers. You will assist in ensuring shipments are scheduled and moving efficiently while gaining industry experience in logistics. Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem‑solving skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities- Answer calls and emails from shippers and receivers.
- Build and manage orders in the transportation management system (TMS).
- Schedule appointments with shippers, receivers, and carriers via online portals, phone, and email.
- Route shipments to minimize transit times.
- Manually enter transaction details for each load.
- Plan and track shipments of goods according to customer requirements.
- Provide strategic solutions to accommodate shipper and customer needs.
- Communicate effectively via phone, email, and face‑to‑face interactions.
- Add and maintain information in the locations file in McLeod.
- Maintain pertinent information in customer and shipper files.
- Develop basic full‑truck‑load rating knowledge.
- Follow individual team goals and processes.
- Understand, follow, and emulate Zipline value.
- Create process plans for each customer account.
- Understand geography, transit times, and time zones.
- Collaborate with the carrier team to solve problems.
- Organize and manage the load board.
- Build relationships with shippers/receivers and customers through excellent customer service.
- Develop supply chain expertise and industry knowledge to better serve customers.
- Stay up to date with market fluctuations and historical trends.
- Provide support to sales, carrier teams, accounting, and other operations teams when needed.
- Build LTL orders in TMSs, understanding LTL processes and classifications.
- Assess client needs, advise on transportation solutions and alternatives, monitor shipments, solve issues before they impact clients, and organize/analyze/report information for clients to assist decision‑making.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented with solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well on a team and collaborate across internal teams.
