Sports Coordinator, YMCA of Central Ohio (Creative Design)

The Part-Time Sports Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of youth sports programs at the YMCA of Central Ohio, including Bitty Sports and YMCA youth sports leagues in Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Flag Football, and Baseball. This role helps create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for children, with a focus on early sports experiences. Ideal candidates are energetic, organized, and passionate about youth development and teamwork.

• Oversee and support the day-of operations for Bitty Sports and other youth sports programs, ensuring program quality through setup, check-in, facilitation, coaching support, and tear-down.
• Distribute awards and maintain a positive experience for all participants.
• Supervise and guide volunteer coaches, ensuring they adhere to YMCA policies and procedures while delivering a high-quality program experience.
• Assist in planning and administration of Bitty Sports and other youth sports leagues, including roster creation, communication with coaches and parents, jersey and supply ordering and distribution, marketing efforts, and other program logistics.
• Supervise sports officials during games, providing real-time feedback and making adjustments as needed to ensure fair and consistent officiating.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for program-related communication with parents, participants, YMCA staff, and community center partners, ensuring clarity, responsiveness, and a strong sense of community.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community. A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism is expected from our staff.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures related to abuse risk management, while reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors. Complies with all procedures related to supervision and YMCA training and reporting requirements.
