Job Summary

The Central Office Installer installs, sets up, rearranges, or removes switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment used in central offices or headend. They service or repair telephone, cable television, internet, and other communications equipment on customers' property; and install communications equipment or wiring in buildings. This role provides high‑quality service in customer technical spaces including data centers, mobile telephone switch centers, central office wire centers, and designated enterprise spaces.

Responsibilities
  • Physically place, remove, or modify non‑working equipment, including superstructure components such as auxiliary bars, threaded rods, cable racking, cable trays, and wire basket systems.
  • Cut, file, drill, and modify infrastructure components using tools such as bandsaw, hammer drill, jigsaw, ratchet/sockets, etc.
  • Install data equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.
  • Identify, label, measure, and route cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret detailed specifications, drawings, blueprints, schematics, and Method of Procedures (MOPs).
  • Complete operations paperwork, including expense reports, timesheets, job documentation, and daily job status reports.
  • Work and assist in completing tasks under the direction and oversight of the lead installer.
  • Conduct basic cable testing, including fiber & copper continuity.
  • Act as a customer contact, interfacing with customers and local supervisors regarding project status.
  • Interact with all members of the organization, including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or college degree preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, iOS and/or Android applications.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and experience using basic power tools.
  • Strong organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Pay Range in the United States: $20 – $27 based upon geography, skills, and experience. May also be eligible for performance incentive opportunity based on company and individual goals and performance.
