Join us as a Fiber Splicer at Prime Tech Communications

We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our team. The role involves fieldwork in telecommunications, primarily focusing on fiber optic splicing and maintenance.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings
  • Skills and Abilities: Perform duties satisfactorily, with good hand dexterity and organizational skills
  • Language: Proficiency in reading, speaking, and understanding English

    Certifications:

    Valid Driver’s License, Fiber Splicing Certification
  • Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting/moving up to 100 lbs, speaking, vision, hearing, color distinction
  • Mental Requirements: Ability to follow procedures in an organized fashion
  • Working Conditions: Field environment
Primary Duties and Tasks
  • Arrive on time and be ready for work at the start of each day.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain truck inventory levels.
  • Inspect and test lines and cables, record and analyze results to identify faults.
  • Prepare fiber using hand tools or fiber splicing equipment.
  • Perform OTDR testing on splices and redo if necessary.
  • Seal splices with moisture-proof coverings and place insulation over conductors.
  • Complete all required paperwork promptly.
  • Perform tasks within standard time frames.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment.
  • Wear company uniform and maintain neat grooming.
  • Report unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Attend safety meetings as required.
  • Use job-specific tools such as fiber splicers, OTDR, optical power meters, light wands, and cleavers.
  • Undergo annual performance evaluations.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations per company, customer, and OSHA standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
