Overview

Technician in Charge / Lead Technician

Transdev in Columbus, OH via Columbus RAC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technician to join our team. The Technician will supervise and coordinate the activities of the technician team, ensuring the timely and efficient diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $35.00/hour – maximum $40.00/hour

  • EV Mechanic experience a plus - will provide ongoing training.

  • Class B CDL - we will train!

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and prioritize the workload of the technician team, assigning tasks and ensuring all work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles.

  • Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock to support maintenance and repair activities while minimizing waste and excess inventory.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other components, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

  • Coach and monitor members of the work team.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technician, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often solo and in remote locations.

  • Push and pull objects up to 75 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.

  • Withstand exposure to heavy traffic areas; tolerate dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
