The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. ** Description of Work
** Salary Range: $39,671 - $69,426 Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair electrical systems. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
- Maintaining, repairing, installing, and altering wiring, electrical devices, machinery, and equipment associated with the various building systems within a correctional institution.
- Locating and diagnosing troubles occurring in institutional electrical systems and making necessary repairs. This includes measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduit, draws wire through conduit, does necessary splicing, soldering, and application of friction tape, installs and connects equipment to wiring system and operation or use of all test equipment and tools associated with the electrical trade.
- Cross training, assisting with and/or performing other maintenance related tasks, and following oral/written instructions.

* Experience using and caring for the tools of the trade.
* Experience troubleshooting AC and DC motors and control wiring.

The salary grade for this position is
** NC09**. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.
